Created for Iris van Herpen

Filmed during the creation of Iris van Herpen’s Sonic Starquakes collection, the film follows its journey from the first experiments in the atelier to its final presentation during Paris Haute Couture Week. Inspired by the vibrations that travel through stars, the collection explores rhythm, energy, and movement on a cosmic scale.

The film captures Iris and her atelier working alongside artist Mundy Hepburn, whose hand-blown plasma sculptures form the luminous heart of the Helix Nebula dress, and physicist Dale Sulak, whose work with particle acceleration and electrical discharge created the branching Lichtenberg patterns of the Fractal Universe look.

Moving between delicate handwork and experimental technology, Sonic Starquakes offers a cinematic portrait of collaboration, revealing how couture, science, craftsmanship, and imagination come together to translate invisible forces into material, silhouette, and motion.
